Development Classes
It is everyones birthright to know and be able to use their intuition and inner guidance. It is not just for a select few, everyone was born with it, just as we were given physical senses to navigate life with.
It is my intention with this online classroom to help you remember and develop your own abilities, and aspects of your psyche so that you can live a full and happy life. If there is any subject that you would like to learn more about, please turn to the questions and answers page in the classroom and post the question on the twitter link. I will then write about it here in the classroom.
I know that everyone can develop their talents, as I developed mine through genuine interest and persistance. Many mediums have had the stories from childhood in which they saw Spirit, or they always knew things etc. I was just a regular kid that was interested in mythology and dreams from about 7 years old and it all developed from there.
It doesn't matter where you start, or with what tools, if any. Some people like to hold items to read from, which is called Psychometry, others cards, runes or nothing at all.
There is no right or wrong way, just what feels right to you. I looked into divination methods like palmistry, astrology, the I Ching and the study of handwriting before I found Tarot Cards. I have used Tarot ever since as it is a visual medium and I am most comfortable with my visual senses. That being said, when Spirit come through to me, I feel them before I get any imagery, so my sense of touch is strongest there.
The point being, whichever senses you enjoy using the most in your physical world, could be a good starting point to explore the intuitive senses. Learning anything is like creating a beautiful garden, if you dont have the tools, you go out and get them, if you need the knowledge, you ask people who have already started developing theirs for advice. It is still yours and only you will know how it needs to go, and it is a life long thing to keep tending it (as any gardener will know!), but you can make it as creative and as beautiful as you want it to be!
If it is your intention to develop your gifts, then you will. Simple as that. Believe in yourself and gather what you need to thrive!
We have all heard the term 'playing the martyr' or being a 'victim', being someones 'Knight' or 'Princess'. These are just a few of the most common personality types that are out there (there are over 70 of them). Archetypes is just a fancy word for a pattern of behaviour in its purest form, without the checks and balances that the other sides of our personality provides. We all have the four basic survival Archetypes, along with 8-10 personal archetypes that are specific to you. We often have a few types that step in every now and again when they're needed (such as the Rebel or the Warrior), so even if you don't feel them in your life on a regular basis, you can still draw on them for strength or learning when you need to. Please see Caroline Myss's fantastic website for more information on all of the archetypes www.myss.com
The Child - Survival Archetype
This is your innocence, the aspect you return to when you love, when you're frightened or challenged by something and one of the main archetypes in personal relationships. The main types are The Nature Child, Wounded Child, Orphan Child , Eternal Child (Peter Pan), Divine Child and Magical Child.
The Victim - Survival Archetype
We all play the victim to avoid responsibility at times, and this is the archetype that alerts us to this. When we feel a victim we often feel vindicated to victimise others and it turns into a nasty cycle. Take responsibility for your feelings and that brings you into your power again.
The Prostitute - Survival Archetype
This archetype lets us know when we are about to negotiate part of our spirit in exchange for security. When we do things that we hate or dont agree with in exchange for money or regard or love, it is all the same thing - we are selling ourselves. Being true to yourself and your needs brings you back.
The Saboteur - Survival Archetype
When you are given an opportunity that brings change, or emotional risk we often sabotage it so that we dont need to move forward with our lives. Live in the moment and trust your feelings as courage lives in the heart, not the mind.
The Damsel / The Princess / The Queen / The Knight / The King
These three personality types have been regularly developed in the last age with Generation X being the tail end of it's heavy influence. The Damsel and Princess are very similar, with the main difference being that the Damsel wants to be rescued and looked after by a Knight or Prince, whereas the Princess wants to be pampered and put on a pedestal. All three archetypes are very influenced by romance, sometimes to the expense of reality. The Knight is the male Protector and Provider, drawn to serve and look after his Damsel, Princess or Queen. The empowered Knight does so happily, knowing that she also serves him by giving him love, affection or support. Often the Knight can fall into the trap of too much self-sacrifice, leading to him feeling like a Martyr. Good communication and a sense of personal responsibility is important for all three archetypes to feel happy and healthy. Then all three bring out the innocent, beautiful and gentle sides of life. The King and Queen archetypes like to be in charge of their own lives and make great managers. Often their challenge is the management of power, to be strong without being overbearing but also to love the strength they have and use it to protect and help others . This balance gives the Queen/King a sense of purpose.
The Rescuer / The Healer / The Servant
Both of these archetypes have the intent to help and heal others, the difference being in their reasons and approach. The Rescuer dives in at a time of need and gives the person in question the strength, support, or whatever is needed to 'save' that person. The Healer is very similar, but aims to teach the person to save themselves. The unempowered Rescuer can find themselves wanting to keep the other person in need of rescuing, so that they feel wanted and needed, whereas the unempowered Healer often doesnt look after themselves. The Healer and Rescuer often relate to the Servant personality as at heart we all serve others, and anyone relating to this archetype enjoys helping others, but may find themselves using lack of money as an excuse for not striving for a better life.
The Vampire
Books and movies have glamourised this archetype, but essentially this is the personality that has to feed off others for its survival. This personality often doesnt see itself as empowered and so leans heavily on others for its survival, often making Victims of their partners. It can be positive if the person is aware of it however.
The word Clairvoyant has been used to describe psychic senses so much over the years that people have understandably begun to think that seeing things is the only way to sense information. However, we have a psychic sense for each of the corresponding physical senses, i.e: Seeing: Visualising (Clairvoyance), Hearing: Getting words or sounds (Clairaudience), Feeling/Touch: Feeling changes in your body or your energy (Clairsentience) which also includes Taste and Smell (technically Clairaroma or Clairgustus). It REALLY doesn't matter which term you use, or which sense you use the most, its whatever you feel comfortable with. Just like your physical senses you use a mix all the time without thinking. It will be the same with your psychic senses, but knowing where your most confident is a good place to start. Developing your psychic abilities is just using these senses in a deliberate way to try to make them stronger, and just like training your body you have to give them time to adjust and grow!
One of the most important things to remember when developing your abilities is ALWAYS ASK FOR PROTECTION! Protection from low-level spirits is one element, but the main reason I say it is to help you learn to protect yourself from other people's energy. "The Brighter the Light, the more the Moths" Think of it like asking for a Spirit 'Bouncer' that helps to filter out people who don't have your best intentions at heart. It also serves to teach you when to switch off, as the temptation in the beginning is to be always 'on' and receiving information but this can swiftly lead to burn-out or absorbing other people's energy too much. When you feel tired, use your energy to rest and do the things that make you feel good. Always ask if you need energy too, there's plenty of it!
The first step is to decide which sense you would like to develop, and what you would like to pick up. You can use any tool such as cards or runes etc, but for this exercise holding an object of someones, or an old photo may work the best. Anything with a great deal of energy in it or something that has been cherised is great for this. Remember, always ask for help and protection from whatever you believe in 'Upstairs' before you tune in to anything or anyone.
If you feel most comfortable with visual learning in life and you want to develop Clairvoyance, you could hold an object and let your mind wander. What images to you get? Could you draw them? (you don't need to be a master painter for this) Describe them in as much detail as you can. If you want to start with Clairsentience, do the same but notice how you feel, both in body and in heart. What emotions do you feel from the object? For hearing it would be listening for words or sounds. Bear in mind with all senses - you may get the physical sense, but more often than not, you will feel it, or think you may be imagining it. You will get to know the difference between what is you, and what is guidance by how it feels. That can take time, but most importantly, it takes confidence. Believe in yourself and it gets easier to discern the difference.
Most images come into your mind exactly like a memory image would, and the less you doubt yourself, the more you will let these images flow without your mind messing with them. The same goes for words or feelings, just get them out before the mind has too much time to pick them apart. Then practice practice practice! You will get better each time, thank those that help you and then it is just a matter of time and belief!
When you develop your psychic abilities, you also strengthen you mediumship capabilities in the form of increased sensitivity and increased awareness of the feelings and messages you are receiving. To tune into Spirit you need to raise your energy to a higher 'frequency' or 'vibration'. Meaning, you need to give the brain a rest and ask Spirit to help guide and protect you, and to trust that your own Spirit knows more about what to do here than your brain.
This is the big area of 50 / 50, you do your very best to meet Spirit half-way. Being open with as little judgement and pre-conceived ideas as possible really helps, and the massive thing here is self-confidence and self-belief. It doesnt matter how psychic you are, if you don't believe in Spirit or your own abilities to communicate and receive, you would struggle. Likewise, if you believe in yourself and Spirit, let that faith and confidence carry you and many of the skills will come.
Please, please please remember to ask for protection before you open any doors to the Otherside, and when you do begin to develop in this area, start with someone you know. Relatives or friends that have passed over are a good start (as long as the emotion you feel with them is a positive one) , and the items that you used to test your psychic abilities can help to link to those Spirits to which they belonged to.
Automatic writing is another tool you could use, just focus on the Spirit you would like to communicate with, (if you are not clear - state ONLY positive and good Spirits) and after asking for protection, begin writing whatever comes to your head. Try not to think about it too much, just trust.
Keeping a journal of your experiences can be a great way to learn, and I find lighting a candle at the beginning and extinguishing it at the end of a session helps to signal my brain when to switch on and off. It is so important to switch off, no matter how curious you are, as it is like a workout - you will exhaust yourself if you don't!
With everything - ONLY do what gives you a good feeling, if you get a bad feeling DON"T GO THERE! Working with Spirit is a beautiful thing, and the way you do that will be unique to you so follow your feelings in everything, and good luck!
If there were ever a big case for misrepresentation of a faith - then the Old Ways would be it. Even the words Witch, ritual, spell and witchcraft bring together many dark images and feelings within the collecive psyche. That is why I refer to it as The Old Ways, as it was known before the trials and misunderstandings of religion. There is much to be learnt of the history of the Old Ways, and the reality of why such hysteria began (more to do with politics, land rights and the establishment of a religion that wasnt of the British Isles), and I urge anyone wanting to follow this path to learn about its origins. Knowledge is power after all.
(I am always available to help with this, any questions - just ask)
There are many paths available to you know, most of them Wiccan (which was created by one man in a flat in London in the 1950's). There is nothing wrong with this more modern take on the Old Ways, just know that most of it is an adaption and if you are after something more authentic, then you need to dig a little deeper.
Ironically, the closer you get, the less 'props' you need. The Old Ways were created by the people of Alba (modern day England and Wales) and Scotland, with Ireland having its own legends and magic that got incorporated later. Dating back to 3000BC or earlier, this faith was praticed by the Elite and the masses, so practicality was key!
Witch simply meant Wise (which is where we get the term Wit today) and one with this title was someone to turn to in times of need, to understand life and help people navigate their own lives when they had lost their 'Sight'.
There were those that practiced the pratical sides of the faith (trying to attract the wanted things into their lives and repel unwanted) and there were those that followed the faith part only, which was the Pagan faith. (Pagan simply means Many Gods and of the People/Peasants depending on who you ask)
I can recommend books by Marion Green, she keeps it simple and allows the changes to come from within you - which is as it is meant to be. No one has the power to bring about change in you, only you can do this for yourself.
Each path is different also, as each person who feels a calling for the Old Ways will be yearning for a different thing, or experience that they once had. If you would like to know more, please email me with what you would like to know, and why (very important) and will respond as soon as I can. Blessings to you
